PT Cruiser PCM problem

Asked by Onlychevrolets Jul 10, 2018 at 03:58 PM about the 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Turbo Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The problem started when the O2
sensor shorted and killed the driver
in the PCM. After installing new
Chrysler OEM sensors the car ran
and drove perfectly but I had a O2
sensor heater control circuit code
that won't go away. I purchased a "
rebuilt" PCM from Imperial Car
Computer Exchange in Cary North
Carolina. It didn't work so I sent it
back. They sent another one and
this one caused the transmission
to not shift so it was returned. Four
times I returned their junk and after
nine months I still don't have a
working unit. If anyone knows of a
company that actually knows what
they are doing unlike Imperial I
need a PCM. I've lost that $308.00
they stole from me.

Each unit they sent actually had different problems , so I don't think it's the car.

I had the same problem with a bad PCM. I went to Car Computer Exchange and mine is now working beautifully. There are some bad reviews on their site too so it seems like it's kind of a gamble either way, but I did have good luck with them so maybe you will too.

I'm told that most mechanics over look the ground for the 02 sensor could be external and internal on the PCM problem is they didn't tell you how to fix it. Here is the video https://youtu.be/omV4OOdJn0Y hope it helps

I'm dealing with the same issue but it's gotten from bad to worst first was the 02 sensors low voltage afterm replacing them then it through a crankshaft sendor... now the OBD 2 not working ... I don't see blown fuses... but I'm told the coil pack as well if it's not generating enough voltage can throw everything off and the ground in the coil pack as well but mechanics are saying no and instructors on Youtube are saying yes... one thing I never learned is electrical I need to take a crash course in it for sure. Try following this guy he's really good. https://youtu.be/TZrCrBx4uFY instructions how to find a short
