1999 Mitsubishi eclipse gs

Ok i have notice that my car has been makeing a ticking
sound around 3,000 rpms in 1st gesr then in second it
does it around the same and but after it reachs around
3,500 it quits completely for all the other gear im thinking
its a valve but im not sure can anybody help?
