Either no spark or no fuel..could be a fuel filter and/or fuel pump if a fuel issue... if no spark, if your plugs are very old, replace them, if your plug wires/ crank sensor are old, replace them ..out of left field but a completely clogged air filter can do this as well if it was running rough before the failure..

i experienced the same. Mitsubishi technician told me to open the gas tank, pump the accelerator three times, close the gas tank, then turn the ignition while pumping the accelerator at the same time. At first attempts it did not work. I opened the gas tank again, left it open while turning on the ignition and pumping the accelerator at the same time. after two to three attempts, the engine started! what a relief.

just experienced the same exact thing in our Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback 2015 Automatic. We are clueless as the battery still in its lifespan (Motolite GOLD for 21 mos, and we only have it for 14 months palang). And so we saw this post and tried Arnold's trick of opening the gas tank and closing it again. We noticed that there's an air pressure so that would be it. Then we tried turning on the ignition and pumping the accelerator at the same time. After 3 orr more attempts, nothing happened. Then, me and my wife argued, and so we decided to have our battery checked by the dealer. They have exchanged it with a new one and telling us that there's something wrong with it. (so we have a new battery now) But for me the battery is not the problem as the car can turn on its electric switches like windows etc without any problem. And so we think the problem is with the engine oil. We have added a liter of Engine oil. Then after doing all those things, we tried turning the car on but no good. Then I noticed something like it sounds there's an improvement. So, I tried turning on the ignition, pumping the accelerator while timing the revolution of the car. I guess, the key is doing it while making sure of the timing of the revolution. Then after doing it for 5-6 times or maybe even more, the car is now working perfectly fine. :) Thanks for this post MARK L. and ARNOLD!

This happened to my Mirage GLX G4 twice already this year alone. First it won't start so I called our mechanic and he told me I need new spark plugs to get the car running, which cost 840 a pc ... wow! plus 1k labor. Then just recently it happened again and I called the same mechanic, this time he just cleaned the spark plugs and said its an electrical thing that frequently bugs a Mirage. He was able to start the car but I still have to shell out 1.5k for the labor,... felt like i just been robbed.

Dennis, You were robbed....it is a very simple process to change the spark plugs.... My neighbor and myself just replaced the spark plugs on my mirage in less than 15 minutes...... I would demand most of my money back.

This happened to my Mirage GLX G4 as well. The technique of opening the gas tank, pump the accelerator three times, close the gas tank, then turn the ignition while pumping the accelerator at the same time, worked for my car. I had to do it 7-8 times before it revved back to life. Thank you very much.

The technique really works. I tried opening the gas tank, pump the accelerator three times, close the gas tank, turning on the ignition while pumping the accelerator at the same time. I did it 3-4 times. Nothing happened yet so i repeated the same steps but this time i left the gas tank open, tried turning on the ignition while pumping the accelerator, i tried it 3 times. When nothing happened, i went back to doing the first procedure (opening the gas tank, pump the accelerator three times, close the gas tank, turning on the ignition while pumping the accelerator at the same time), i did it twice and finally the engine started. Thanks for sharing your experience in this forum, it really helped a lot!

Ok I'm so upset with Mitsubishi motors and this car. I honestly thought I was the only one that has had this same problem since I bought my 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage 2014 brand new and it would not start for me two weeks after I bought it. This is honestly a disgrace to all the customers that have purchased their vehicles due to obviously there is a major problem with them and we all have had to deal with cost and repairs, having it towed and costs of that, not alone just the stress of your vehicle not starting and missing or being late to what you had to do. I believe Mitsubishi motors should owes anyone of us vehicle owners reimbursement for all due costs that we've had to pay for their mistakes with these vehicles. My car wouldn't start today and I missed a extremely hard interview with a nursing company and there for will not get this position. I have tried the gas tank open solution and now my car will start. Now is to late tho.

I recently got out of a doctor's appointment and afterwards went to start my 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage, and it would not start. Luck be it my phone happened to be dead, so I walked 2 miles in a Humboldt rainstorm with bronchitis. Called AAA, thought battery was dead, but jump didn't fix it. So had a shop take it in and they recommended replacing the plugs. I found this forum today, car is still in the shop but I am having them also order new air filters (if they are deemed needed to be replaced). I will try the gas pedal/open tank trick and report back here with any success. I also submitted the issue to Mitsubishi so well see. Thanks to every one posting here!

Thank you to Arnold and the Mitsubishi technician who gave him such useful knowledge.my 2024 mirage died outside my work after just fine to get there. I opened my gas tank and pushed the accelerator pedal 4 times waited a few seconds and the another 4 times. I have a push to start and with the brake pressed and about 5 pushes on the accelerator it started right up. Not sure what the issues really is but I'm so glad this worked.

Happened to our 2014 Mirage G4 sedan. Opened the gas tank, closed it, then started with gas pedal assisting. Worked after 3-4 attempts. Thanks, Arnold.

Oh my God, it worked like a charm. I almost spent a $120 just to have it diagnosed not to mention the cost of repairs. This was a great suggestion and I appreciate it a bunch.

Tried with cap on 4 times, then without cap twice. Then with cap another 4 times, then with cap off then finally, car started. Connected battery jumper to help me get through it. You really need to be hard on gas pump when turning the key and don't give up. Car finally started and drove normally. Thank you Arnold and sniperlee12345 and thank you cargurus for this thread host!

Sorry for answering the question with another question. Is there a reason why this keeps happening? This already happened to me 4-5 times, this year alone! March palang susko po! hahaha

@Gemma: I encountered the same issue again last year, luckily i was able to start my car after several ignition. I don't want to just rely on the open tank technique so i decided to take my car into a repair shop where they inspected it thoroughly. What they found out was there was a problem on my fuel filter, it somehow affected the amount of fuel being pumped reason why it cannot start, i think this makes sense. So far after replacing the fuel filter, I have not experience the same issue again.

My wife called me today and she could not start it. In this case she said it was dead. So i asked her to use our jump starter pack that i recently bought. Cranked but did not start. I'll ask her to try the techniques on this forum. Thank you AJ
