I would ask for all maintenance records as well as carfax. There is a lot of things that can go wrong if the vehicle was not maintained properly and Mitsubishi almost always require OEM parts. Listen for any squeals in engine area, clunks when going into gear, vibrations when in gear at stop lights, fluid leaks, signs of overheating etc. By now it should have also had the radiator, water pump, all tensioners and belts replaced and most likely the heater core, air conditioner, starter, alternator and catalytic converter replaced. I would definitely check the wiring and radio too and front end parts. Pretty much if there is not proof of maintenance then I would take it to a Mitsubishi dealer and have the car put on their machines. These cars are finicky when it comes to repairs. If the car has been taken care of then you should get at least 225,000 miles as long as you continue to take care of it. I love my 2002 Eclipse GT and it runs real good and is still fun to drive.
