Rpms revving and gas smell

Asked by Kelly_79 Mar 01, 2017 at 04:13 PM about the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a misfire on cylinder 6 so I had my
plugs and wires replaced. Went to get car
and it was smoking out the tale pipe.
Mechanic said he spilled oil when taking
the intake off to get to back 3 plugs and it
just needed to burn off. Picked it up the
next day no smoke but serice engine soon
light on now and codes P0432/P0433
came up. At stop and go the engine revs
high almost like tranny is slipping and at
start up I smell gas inside and out of
vehicle. Autozone says codes read purge
sylenoid. Also heat gauge is going over half
way and bouncing up and down. Someone
please help this is getting very costly!!

The temp gauge going up and down may be a bad thermostat. Maybe you need a better mechanic.

Ikr!! But what are the codes saying and could he have screwed something up when taking off intake to get to back plugs? Or could the oil leaking inside motor have caused damage and caused catylatic converter to go bad?? I'm clueless here
