Engine miles

Asked by Mathew Feb 09, 2016 at 07:58 PM about the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How many miles on a engine in a mitsubishi
eclipse is too many

That all depends on how it was driven and maintained. A young punk who redlines it at every stop sign and never changes the oil could ruin an engine in 20,000 miles.

My family has own our mitsubishi eclipse GT for the whole lifespan. (18 years as of 072019). Right now its at ~325k. Its going ti depend on the owner obviously but knowing how my mom treated it. You would have to test it yourself. Its survived running dry for a multitude of days. Survived my mom mixing oils together and survived a little oil being spilt. Only problems that have arose was an alternator issue, A/C system leak, engine mounts, and a starter replacement. I cant say the same for the turbo engine that came with the GSX but i mean so far my 3.0 V6 has been trhough hell and back but still runs as good as it did 10 years back. If not, better. Only problems that are occuring is a little oil consumption but that goes with every high mileaged car

Mitsi 2009 is hands down the best car I've ever owned. No mechanical issues at all. Cannot believe they discontinued production on this series!! Only front wheel drive convertible on the market at that time, mid priced, flashy, comfortable, great mileage. She's at 158,000 miles and drives like a baby.!!!

I own a 2001 Eclipse GS 2.4L and she’s sitting at 241,684 miles on the original engine things been absolutely amazing. She survived 3 car accidents one of which had a Acura Legend completely under it. It’s been hit by a 2018 Yukon XL at 75mph and drove away hardly damaged and it’s been hit by a Honda Odyssey and the thing is still going. This thing turned into something amazing. This is mine now as of 6/23/2020

2003 gt, 155,000, just put $3000 into it (tune up, tires. I get on it all the time. Cold air intake, went large spectre cone. Heat shield will be here Sunday. I still contemplate between babying it or get on it. I get on it everytime. Love it. How it lasts, cuz doing normal with normal cars is just fucking boring.
