Car starts and shuts off unless given gas and rarely will idle but poorly

When I start my car it will almost immediately stall
unless given gas and held above 2k rpms. If the
rpms drop low and I give it gas it hesitates or won't
rev back up and all I hear is air.  If I hold the gas it is
fine

my guess would be the AIC air idle control , clean out the port if you're going to replace it
