Okay, so I bought a 04 eclipse spyder 2.4l single
jingle. The cars engine is toast, so Im looking to
buy another engine, my question is what engines
from any make car would be able to fit into my
eclipse, I want just drop, plug, and go with as little
fabrication as possible.
Same engine in it came with, the electronics and wire harness would be real bummer to have to figure out any other combinations.
Just keep it serviced and it will be good to you.
The problem is, I need another engine from I guess something other than a eclipse, belive it or not they're scarce around me, I was hoping maybe a galant or even a Sebring would work?
That's would be DOHC would it not?
2004 Galant 2.4L MiVEC engine will swap out with 2006-2007 Eclipse/Spyder 2.4L MiVEC.
I have heard of the srt swap ins.
The third generation to 2000-2004 (3G) shared a redesigned platform with the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus. Yours has the SOHC 4G64 2.4 L 16-valve four-cylinder. I am not sure if the Sebring or Stratus had that or not.
Make that to 2000-2005 (3rd gens)
Since the 2000-2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 2001-2005 Chrysler Sebring Coupe and 2001-2005 Dodge Stratus Coupe are based on the Chrysler ST-22 Platform, there are quite a number of interchangeable parts. Note: Chrysler Sebring Sedans and Dodge Stratus Sedans are not based on the same platform, they do not share the same engine/powertrain. Interchangeable Parts: Engine components, Transmission
Go to the site URL above its a 2.4 for sale says: Mitsubishi Eclipse-Galant-Chrysler Sebring-Dodge Stratus 2.4L 1999,2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005 Used engine, WARNING: Electrical & induction systems vary, compare and switch as necessary. Up to flywheel. Intake manifolds are available in aluminum and plastic, compare before interchaning. Camshafts differ between AT & MT transmissions. Mitsubishi 4-143 (2.4L). E.F.I. SOHC.
For sure I just checked Ebay listings and they say same thing but may start at 2000 year models on some as if yours is a manual you need the engine that came with a manual or automatic trans and they state that the 3.0l of those model Eclipse, Galant, Sebring, Stratus fits too.
Thanks so much you helped me quite a bit.
I can not find much info on the SRT Neon swap ins so I would forget that one unless your MacGyver.
