High pitched whistle

Asked by Troy2066 Feb 06, 2020 at 07:44 PM about the 2019 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 2019 Toyota
Highlander two months ago.   Recently
I noticed an intermittent high pitched
whistle noise.  It comes and goes,
slow or fast driving, different weather
conditions, stopped or driving,
sometimes when I start out,
sometimes driving, sometimes parked
in driveway.  You get the picture.
Comes and goes.  Does not happen
every day.  Very irritating.   Toyota told
me they could not duplicate.  I had a
recording of it on my phone that they
listened too.  Could not tell me what it
is.  They made light of it.  I am furious.

I too, have a 2019 Highlander with same exact problem. Toyota told me to bring it in and they would listen to the noise and repair. Strange thing is, it only happened 3 times in the 5 months I’ve had it. Very doubtful or will make the noise when I bring it in. Very upsetting!!

I purchased my Toyota Highlander in feb 2020. I have had the same issues with the whistling noise. I recently took my car in this week and a technician drove with me and was able to hear the noise. After that he was unable to reproduce it until this morning when he drove the car when it was cold. They told me the whistling noise was due to bearings in the engine on the passenger side. They said there was nothing they could do to fix it. The service man drove another Highlander that was on the lot and it had the same whistling noise. This is something Toyota needs to fix as it seems to be a problem with all Toyota Highlander 's. The whistle is temperature dependent per the service tech. I haven't even had the car a year yet and this is VERY FRUSTRATING! . My next step is to speak with the service manager and possibly the salesman who sold me the car. I am not sure what Will happen after that.

I have a Toyota Highlander that’s a 2006 I have never had any problems till just this year with a whistling sound in a very high pitch sound! It truly hurts my ears but again like everyone says every time I take it to a mechanic- it never does it! Soooo frustrating! Does anyone know what it is?
