i purchased a cooper 2003 from a friend but it will not start. the previous owner told that he purchased a new key on line but forgot to put to the chip in it and the car never started after that.

So you need to have a set of keys programmed to the vehcile. Contact a local locksmith, mechanic or mini dealer for assistance.
