My friend has a 2005 Mini Cooper it has 151000 miles. It won't go into the second gear. Has anyone had this problem?

So is it a manual or automatic? If manual it might be a synchro.

It's automatic with manual drive capabilities. In automatic drive or manual it won't go into second gear.
