Fuelpump

Asked by TomCat1911 Oct 26, 2019 at 04:12 AM about the 1988 Dodge Ramcharger 100 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ramcharger became a little difficult to start having to pump
the accelerator & the gas gauge stopped working.  After
acpl days of that i hit the hwy made it 1/4 mile and it was
like it ran out of gas... iit would start back up and die or
pumping the accelerator it would stay running until i put it
in gear then die. I even put gas in it just in case. I can see
gas dripping in the carb when working the accelerator & iit
will start and run for a second if i pour gas into the
carburetor

Check and measure the fuel pressure with a proper gauge. When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? Running at idle or neutral and dying in gear could be transmission related and or other things. More testing will be required.
