Vehicle repair

Asked by Jul 02, 2017 at 11:12 AM about the 1998 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Taurus is 19 years old. I must say this car has never given me any
trouble other than normal wear  & tear. She has 150,000 miles and purrs like
a kitten. Here is my problem: I am driving along and the "Over Drive Off" light
starts flashing and then the does not want to shift gears at the proper RPM. It
is as if I am pulling a load. If I pull over and put the car in park, push the
"Over Drive" button, sometimes the light will go out and sometimes I have to
pull over, turn the engine off. Restart the engine put it in drive and hope
everything works properly until I get to my destination without repeating what
I have just described again.
