On this make and model it is safe to just unhook the negative battery cable, turn on the headlight switch for 30 seconds, turn off the headlight switch, reconnect the negative cable, start the engine and drive the vehicle as you normally would for at least 20 minutes, that should complete the drive time protocol. If the check engine light comes on at anytime during the drive time the protocol is cancelled until the problem is fixed, and then you have to do it all over again.
