No power to Ignition circuit.

Asked by Guru6K65R Mar 28, 2020 at 01:22 PM about the 1987 Chevrolet R/V 30 LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was warming up the rv and engine was running and when I tried the remote
generator start switch it killed the coach engine and now I have no power to
the ignition, gauges,or accessories. The house items all work.I was looking
for the Ignition relay and believe it is the starter solenoid looking item on the
front inside the hood. It has the two main pos battery wires running to two
lugs and one small post has two wires running to it a red and a black wire. It
kind of looks like a ford solenoid if I remember correctly. This happened once
before and I heard a click come from that item and the ignition went dead I
then cleaned all the battery connections and I got power back. I tried that
again but this time no go. All fuses checked and are good, Did a wire jump
across the 30 amp power fuse to test that area but no power there. I am
really kind of electrical stupid except for the basics so could us some help. I
suspect the ignition relay and need to know if thats what the solenoid under
the hood is. I can't find the proper year and model on your chart so just
picked something to proced.

]I am working on a 1995 fleetwood flair motor home there is no catagory for this unit in your chart so just picked something to go forward.

This is a no power to the ignition, the engine will not turn over nor is there any power to gauges or accessories. Ignition switch is dead!. This model and year does not have a crank sensor.
