Cougar not starting once warmed up

I have a 96 Mercury Cougar the other day when I
got home from work I shut the car off came inside
took a shower went to leave to grab some food
and my car wouldn't start I waited a while after I
tried to jump it and the motor cool down and it
started up just fine what could be my problem
please help

I've have the same problem with my 94 Cougar and I can not figure it out. I tried a stronger battery but it does the same thing. .
