How much would an independent mechanic other than Ammco, charge me to rebuild my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT Transmission?

My posting is listed under Terry Blake's Garage, I wanted to replace my
Transmission or do a rebuild, but the cost keep changing and my choices of
repair shops are slim. Anybody know of someone in Riverside County, CA who
can offer me a better price then Ammco Offered? I think someone in this
section can help me locate a great deal locally and for much cheaper then what
Ammco quoted me when I inquired them to begin with.

I highly recommend checking to see if Ford sells a rebuilt trans for your truck. Their warranty is by far the best you can get.
