Chevrolet vs. GMC trucks

Asked by GuruXB9DZ Oct 19, 2018 at 12:01 PM about the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: General

A salesman told me that GMC uses a heavier bolt than Chevy does in the chassis fabrication.  Is that true?  Is there any structural difference between the two models?

No difference between the two, other than cosmetic stuff. See "Chevy Vs. GMC Frame" at gmtruckclub.com.

No. Differences are only cosmetic between GMC and Chevy trucks. There is, however, a difference in quality of parts used between 1500 and heavy duty trucks beyond heavier suspension. Becuase the trucks are designed to haul heavier loads, they will in theory last longer without a load than a half ton truck with a load. This is due to the higher power to weight ratio. But as far as say a GMC Seirra 1500 vs a Chevy Silverado 1500, they are the same.
