I need to change my front break rotors is there a tool I need to get them off

I have 1999 Mercury Cougar I was going to do the front rotors my self but I can not get
the rotors off is there a special tool I need,

Just remove brake caliper,and rotor should just slide off,no speacial tool needed.Make sure you block up car good for your safety.

Sometimes the rotor gets "frozen" onto the hub (rust, corrosion). It may need extra help for removal. Maybe a few light slams :) Plus being a 99, I doubt they are factory rotors, but look for retainer clips that are sometimes put on the lug studs from the factory. They are light sheet metal clips that come right off with a pair of pliers.

From the look of it they have never been replaced I checked everything you guys have said they it still is not coming off

Lube around it use a hamer to loose n up .carefull
