Out of gas car wont start

won't start after I refueled what I need to do to
restart my car?
You ran your fuel pump dry and now it's burnt out and dead. They are never suppose to run dry not even for a few seconds. They burn up quick without any fuel. Never ever drive your car with low or no fuel. You need to have a new fuel pump installed. No other option or way around this. Pump needs to be replace. Make sure the new pump is never run dry or you will have the same issue again. Make sure to test the new pump by putting it inside a bucket that has water and see if it pumps the water before installing the new pump. This makes sure the new pump is working before wasting time installing a bad one. Sometimes a new pump is bad from factory. Do not test it with no water or it will burn out in seconds. If you are having a mechanic do it then can ignore these suggestions. This is only if you are attempting to fix it yourself.
It's not the fuel pump because I can hear it priming it runs for awhile maybe a min or two then it cuts back off
I had pumps that are half dead. Meaning they work but very weak and not enough fuel pressure for the injectors to work properly. The pump might not be burnt out but it is worn out and clogged so you still need a new pump. Before you get a new pump do a fuel pressure test first to see fuel pressure. If fuel pressure is good that it's not the pump. I had my BMW X5 car with starting issues. Never ran it low on gas. Just wouldn't start many times and sometimes it would. Checked fuel pressure was some but lower than normal. Hear pump working any everything. Got new replacement pump on Amazon and put in new pump. No more starting problems again. I know two people personally who ran their car low on gas and ran out. Killed pump and had to replace both and now working great. If it iwas fuel relay it wouldn't even pump so can't be that but you can alway try switcvhi relays to see if it does anything. Fuel pressure regulator can go bad but I doubt it as that is rare and at the same time you ran low on fuel is even more unlikely. I am saying the fuel filter might be clogged as it got dirty when it picked up all the crud in the fuel tank when you ran it out of gas. Change the fuel filter cheapest and easiest and see if that fixes your problem. Good luck.
