2000 Mercury Mountaineer quit reverse

I have a 00 Mountaineer and I was backing in the
driveway and I breaked then when I gassed it it
wouldn't go. Put trans fluid in it. When put in
reverse it acts like neutral

Reverse is probably gone, should go to a trany shop to get it checked out. Possible rebuild may be needed.
