I have a 2001 sable DOHC. I plugged into the OBD and it said "vin -". I know I am getting fuel. I will check for spark this weekend, and I will also have to find the pcm fuse and check that too. assuming all these things are good....would that mean my PCM is toast?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Freaking sable! so the car ran fine, was parked overnight. The next day the car cranks, but is not turning over. I hooked up the OBD2 scanner and got no vin reading. I still need to look at the pcm fuse and the check for spark, but it really got me wondering if the PCM is bad. I thought all cars after 2000 would return a vin to the scanner. any suggestions or thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

Actron Auto Scanner OBD II Code Reader. Car in ON position(per instructions), plug into the port, go down to the vin, hit read I get "vin-". I do the same process on the GF's 1999 and it sayd "this vehicle does not support this". Do this on my subaru I get the vin.
