The liftgate will not open.

Is there any tension. On the handle? If not your latch has come apart. You may remove the hatch door skin from inside to investigate. If you have tension and it won't open. Try pressing on door hard while pulling latch. Sometime the latch catch gets corroded or gunk gets in there.

Is it locked? I've had trouble with the door-lock computer module, inside the console next to the gas pedal. Hard to find in a junk yard, but I did. You're probably going to have to get in there, like tseliger said.

Thanks, i got it to open. Pushing while pulling on latch worked.

Good. You should spray the mechanism. With some lubricants and Caleb the latch catch.
