No sound when trying to start

Hey, I have a 2002 mercury sable, I haven't been
able to start it for 2 weeks now. It makes no sound
when I crank the key. I tried jumping the battery but
no sound when I crank the key, but lights come on,
gas tank is 1/2 full, everything else seems fine.
Could it be the starter? If so, is the solenoid in the
starter? I really need help here.

If it isn't making any sound at all, it is likely the starter is in need of replacement. I would start there if I were in your shoes.

Remove the starter and have it bench tested at your local auto parts store. This is usually a free service and you will know if the starter is good or bad.
