What could be causing several things to go wrong at once on Mercury Mountaineer?

A month ago my wipers started running by itself. A week later my tail lights would turn off and on, while keys were in the house not in ignition. Finally, yesterday I noticed my dome light will not turn off. I have to unhook battery whenever not driving to prevent this from killing battery. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a short circuit in the wiring harness somewhere. Consider taking it to a repair shop that specializes in electrical problems.
