Hi I had to post my question in the additional details because it would not fit in the question box. I'm thankful for any suggestions anybody might have on my problem.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I have a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer &
it starts up and idles perfectly. But starts
bogging down after I press the gas when
going down the highway. But once i let
off the gas & press it again, it starts
working again like it never happened. It
does this every time I drive it. Does
anybody have an idea what this could be?
I've put fuel injection cleaner in it to see
if that was the problem but it didn't do
anything to help. Any advice would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks so much..

It has the 4.6L --- correct me it that's wrong. But this one is a real mystery. Is the CEL (Check Engine Light) on? Do you buy cheap gas, like at convenience stores? Do you have a habit of driving it near empty of gas? Mileage on car? With some feedback on these questions we might be able to figure this out. Thanks.

Umm yea it should've said the 4.6L actually. Hmm.. I'm sorry I didn't realize it even put that down. I apologize. But anyway, No, the check engine light is not on. I usually only put mid-grade in it & sometimes 93. But I have no idea what was ran in it before I bought it. I only just bought it in July actually. And i try to always keep it topped off in gas, but if for some reason I can't keep it full that week, I try to never let it get below 1/4-1/8 of a tank. But yes, there was 1 time I was running late taking my daughter to school, and didn't even pay attention to my gas needle for some reason, and her school is very remote, on a very curvy road that is 10 miles of nothing but old farm houses & NO gas stations at all until you get all the way back to the entrance of the road where u started. And I unintentionally ran the gas tank all the way down to like only 9 miles left in the tank, according to the information screen in my dash. But i filled up immediately as soon as i made it back out & to the gas station. I don't know if this could be the reason, but I seem to think that the hesitation problem was already there before this ever happened. And again, also, I've let family members borrow my car before & I have no clue if they've ran my gas down to empty without my knowledge either. Sorry for the long reply, I just wanted to make sure that I answered all your questions in thorough detail. Thanks so much for your help! -Jessica
