Radio Presets Not Staying

Asked by GuruX72RY Nov 24, 2018 at 02:39 PM about the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2019 Cherokee Limited.  Presets won't hold
on either FM, AM, or XM.  After 3+ hours of
sitting at the dealer, they determined I needed
a new radio.  Had it installed and presets still
don't work.  Could this be a fuse issue?

Hey - had same issue - trial and error figured out that the presets are saved with your memory profile on the door.. set presets - re- save your profile and you should be good . No idea why that is or why it’s not written anywhere!

I’m having the same issue with my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited, sometimes the presets will stay for several days, multiple starts, and other times they go away driving down the road. The dealer wants to put a new radio in, but now, after reading Jennifer’s answer, I’m going to try her suggestion. They have already checked for error codes and updates, but there were none. I have a gut feeling it’s an electrical issue though.

Jennifer was absolutely correct! My presets have stayed since following her instructions! It baffles me that the Jeep dealer does not know this. When I mentioned it to one of the service men, he expressed he did recall this was indeed correct, but they don't think of this because not all vehicles have the memory seats!

See page 26 of your vehicle user guide for instructions on how to use the user profile memory buttons on the drivers door to save user adjustable items including radio station presets.

Hoping someone here can help with a similar issue. I have saved my radio presets multiple times with my seat profile. As soon as someone moves the seat and i press my memory preset the seat will move to the preset spot but all of the radio presets are lost. I keep resetting and all seems fine, but same thing happens. Any ideas are appreciated.

Mine continues to reset even after Jennifer's door preset suggestion. That works for a week or so and then resets again.

Same problem with the clock time not staying displayed. If you turn off the GPS setting for the clock it will stay. I guess the GPS turns off with the ignition and you lose the GPS and the time.

How do I get the instructions to Jennifer's recommendations on the issue about stations not staying programmed? Thank you!

Jennifer is correct. The radio pre sets are linked to the memory seats and fob. I programed my seat and radio to the fob. The seat worked correctly but the radio pre-sets did not. I found you can manually press the program button (1 or 2) on the door by your leg and the pre-sets will change on the radio. The problem is the u connect system does not recognize which fob is starting the car to change the pre-sets on the radio so it brings up the "default" stations. I am told a software update will soon be available for this glitch.

Thanks a bunch Jennifer. Bought my Jeep about 2 months ago and kept battling the preset changes. After I read your comment I switched between the two memories and realized you were exactly right. I then switched back to profile memory 1, set my presets again, and saved back to profile memory 1, now everything is staying put as it should. Thanks again!

Lo and behold!! Jennifer hits a home run! My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit had the same issue as so many have experienced in not keeping the radio presets in memory. Her solution was perfect. Funny thing (actually not so funny) I went to my local Jeep dealer a couple of times regarding this issue. Their solution was to replace the radio....$$$$. How is it that the damn JEEP DEALER didn't have the answer??

I am having this same issue. I did realize that the presets also coincide with the memory profile. I have programmed all my XM stations while and saved the profile on the door panel. As soon as my husband chooses Memory 2 and I go back to Memory 1, all my channels are gone! Sometimes I don't even have to hit the memory buttons, just hours after programming the channels go back to what they were before. Also, while driving a few times the entire screen goes black then the Jeep logo comes up then the screen comes back on, as if it's resetting itself. Very strange. I am wondering if this is an electrical issue and it needs recalled seeing as how many people are having the same issue with programming their stations. I am sick of searching for my XM stations every time I drive.

The only preset that I am losing is Fox News, it keeps changing to CNN. I think big tech is doing this to annoy me.
