Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine blew.  Do you think that it is cause effective to replace the engine this car? Is it worthwhile?  Or should I give it away to the scrap man

My mechanic inspected the car and and advised me that it was not worthwhile to replace the engine due to the age of the car and the parts can only be bought at the Mazda dealership. I sold it to the scrapman for $250.
