Not a used car, purchased brand new from a Florida Dealership

If it was used someone may have slapped a GS badge on it. Do a VIN check.

I would go directly to Chevy to verify what the car really is just in case your buddy was swindled. You can also download a 2019 Corvette sales brochure which will help you identify GS specific items.

Does he have the original window sticker? This will be the definitive proof of what model the Vette is.

I am sure by now you have your answers - but for anyone else that reaches this thread - GM provides a free way to obtain the "build sheet" for a specific vehicle VIN. Just email socialmedia@gm.com and ask nicely :) for them to email you back with the build sheet for your vehicle of interest - be sure to include your VIN # - they typically reply next day!
