2018 Volkswagen Beetle convertible

I had a 2012 VW Beetle convertible and it had GPS, the dealer that sold me this one said I don't need it on this one because I can hook my phone up and see the map on my screen in my phone?  I cannot figure it out, can GPS be added to my new one?

Use the Apple car play or android app on your cars MMI, then connect the phone and you can use google maps to get your around.
