2001 Mazda wont start after sitting 6 months.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had the battery unplugged for 6 months on my 2001 Mazda Tribute ES.  It will crank but wont start.  Could it be the security system?  Or should I try a new battery?  Also, CD player no longer works after having battery unplugged?
