how can you tell its knocking and who told u there is "no compression" ( and on a side note...why did u not tell the mechanic immediately about this?) I don't know this specific car but I've seen mechanics forget to plug the MAF back in a few times and without it the ECU will be hopelessly confused, the car will kinda...chug along at best and will not go past 20mph or less. Its easy to check, check ur maf, its on the intake piping and its a set of wires that will plug in right before the filter. It may not be it at all but its so easy to check and ive seen it so many times that it is always worth a shot. good luck
