My 2002 V6 tribute has lost all forward drive, reverse is fine. The oil level in the trans is good, with no burning smell. What would it be?

It could be a broken transmission or the parking brake is on.

Stop being a cock and get a life. Sarcasm tells me you're an immature little boy, now go and play with your dolls.
A locked up or broken parking brake can cause the issues!

Ok guys let me just be clear, the fault is in the transmission I would like to know what specific part would cause the fault I'm experiencing. e.g. torque converter. Thanks.
I'm not being sarcastic. Some cars will not go forward if the brake is on - they will move in reverse. I'll go play with my dolls. You go figure out why your Mazda became a storage shed.

You are not talking to an idiot. Its obvious I'm talking about a transmission fault by my question. So your answers to my question were sarcastic. All I wanted to know was an intelligent answer, something you can't give so go away and annoy someone else boy.
Did you ever get an answer to your question? My 2002 Mazda Tribute is having the same issue. It will not go forward only reverse, it actually quit while I was moving, I could accelerate the gas pedal but I wasn't going anywhere, I am certain it is not the parking brake!
Did you ever get an answer to your question? My 2006 Mazda Tribute is having the same issue. It will not go forward or reverse, it actually quit while I was moving and the O/D off dash light was blinking, I could accelerate the gas pedal but I wasn't going anywhere, I am certain it is not the parking brake!

Did anybody who is having these issues get a solution? My O/D light was blinking too and then last night while driving home it was like it slipped into neutral. Now it will only go in reverse. Need answers!!
Try this: Call a mobile mechanic & ask if they have a "SCAN TOOL" to suit your Tribute, when plugged into your Tribute/escape if the SCAN TOOL shows a CODE P0708 then it is a "shift Module" (costs around 80 to 110 dollars) it is located under the radiator hose against the motor on the battery side of a Mazda Tribute /Ford Escape.. it is held on buy two 10mm bolts or sometimes screws, it just plugs in... replace this BEFORE going to an Automatic Transmission specialist as they are a VERY expensive transmission to replace/rebuild. If you are not mechanical then a good mechanic should be able to do the job in 30mins to an Hour tops. best of luck to anyone who bought one of these cars. Kind regards AussieSteve
Same issue here on an 03. Getting ready to R&R it
