Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Mazda 626 lx I think 4cyld the car was given to me by
my mother In-law needless to say after driving it a almost two yes I file
for divorce they take it back I fight in court they have to return it and
sign it over my husbands dad works at a slacks auto store for 30+ yes
so he knows just what to do to mess a car up so the only issue was
wrong with my car was the transmission I was told had internal
leakage I just replaces air filter spark plug and wires transmission
filter and fluid as well as the fluid that ppl poison ppl with I forget the
name lol sorry but yeah this check up was like a month before they got
it as soon as I get the car back I instantly had issues when I would
drive like 26 miles it would start out acting as if it wasn't getting gas
rpm won't move engine doesn't sound I give gas finally it reacts then
suddenly it's as if nothing then it dies eventually shutting off I go to
start it and it makes loud noise and my front end shakes really hard if I
hold gas or pump it starts over time it gets worse I leave it setting for
a few min it starts right up no more problems I finally change fuel filter
it does great from everyday to every three days one day it does it and
for nothing I couldn't get it to start Idk if I was freaking out to much
trying to hard or fast cus I was on the interstate but I cause my starter
or silinoid to go out its now in the shop of a on the side mechanic he
hasn't done crap yet pls what is this I did have an 02 sensor reading
come back and something else he said it could he fuel pump or fuel
pump code I can't remember it has back fired a few times while acting
in this manner and it's only when I drove a good 25+ miles help pls

It's hard to tell what you are trying to describe with run-on sentences but I'll try. It sounds as though you have a failing fuel pump (runs ok for a while, backfires, shakes and dies - restarts after sitting for a while). An internal Transmission leak just leads to sloppy or slip-shifting and eventually a total failure. Keep in mind that this is an older car - it will have more and more problems as time goes on. If the Transmission fails - you're looking at $1200 - $1800 in repairs - is the car worth that?
