befor oil and filter change you can put a ounce or 2 of trans fluid in engine, crank and let idle only for 15,min.what it does is clean sludge from engine.drain oil, remove oil filter.contune with oil change.if running a 10w30oil change to 10w40.this will not harm your car .

It sounds as though a valve is slightly out of adjustment, I wouldn't worry terribly about it, sometimes this happens with no issues. Try the trans. fluid trick and if that does not fix it, just keep driving it, I'd say.

check out msprotege.com for everything protege related. it might be a intake valve problem that has plagued many 03 pro5's.

two things it could be tranny... - or - engine... Either one is not good. Do what your shop told you to do. If it still doesnt work I'd personally cut losses with the car. If you can afford to buy a new car or have a different car just cut losses, but if you dont have another car or cant afford another car then run it till it dies. No use in dumping money into something if you dont have to.
