Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 04 Mazda 6i automatic a few months
ago and here recently it has startes acting up but
only when it wants to.
It will drive perfectly fine for days then one day it
will drive but then starting bogging down and with
the gas pedal to floor ,it wont go over 20 and if it
does its like popping noise sorta like a back fire..
(No engine light etc on)
I have had a mechanic look at it but  he couldnt
find anything even drove it a hour and it didnt do a

So I would start with the spark plugs. Don't wait for the issue to start again. You may also wish to replace the plug wires. After all, the car is 13 years old and a tune up may have not been done on it during its life span (most cars post 2000 are supposed to go 100K before their first tune up). If the car still has issue after replacing the above mentioned parts, it could be the transmission control module that needs to be recoded. Swing it by auto zone and see if they can pull any codes to shed some light on the issue. Best of luck!
