2005 Mazda Tribute starts great and runs good when not in overdrive. I had the plugs changed and the fuel filter replaced. Now it wants to stall when idling in gear, and is making a whining sound.

Sounds like the torque convertor or the overdrive band in the transaxle is shot. Especially with a whining noise. Time for a trans replacement or rebuild.
