98 Ford Escort fuel issue

Asked by ThemMcphersons Jan 02, 2015 at 08:52 PM about the 1998 Ford Escort 4 Dr SE Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1998 Ford Escort that ran amazing up until this morning, The car turns over
but does not start. It is not my timing belt. Not my battery. A tiny small shot of ether
and she fires for a second and then dies out. I have never had a problem with her
starting, I understand it could be my fuel pump or the emergency fuel shut off switch
but is there ANYTHING else that it could possibly be?? We are a low income and by
low I mean poverty low income family and are having hell.

Does it have spark? all the plug wires on correctly? anybody tamper with it? Are you getting fuel to the carb? Got to have fuel and spark for it to run.
