how can I be sure I am not buying a lemon, plus we would like to deal in cash, do you think that would be an advantage in doing a little dealing with the prices

Asked by Lynn Sep 04, 2013 at 01:18 PM about the 1998 Lincoln Navigator 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

how can I make sure I am not buying a lemon also since I'm dealing with cash with about 4 choices, the 1998 being the lowest, do you think that might make the owner willing to barter a bit on the other cars I picked, all navigators

Carfax will at least tell you if it's ever been wrecked and more. Sometimes even service records If you are buying from a dealer, demand a Carfax, free. if private party it's $40 for one or $50 for up to 5 cars and is money well spent. Have all the VIN #'s and your credit card ready then go to carfax.com Maybe negotiate the private party in to going half with you..if he/she really wants to sell it and is not AFRAID of you seeing a carfax ..and ask for all service records for all cars, if an owner has been good about maintenance they save those records. If none exist, there is a red flag
