98 Lincoln Continental - battery drained - error code ALT or Fuse problem???

Asked by HHut17 Jul 08, 2013 at 10:29 PM about the 1998 Lincoln Continental FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

PROBLEM:  98 Lincoln Continental has a drained battery and Autozone says when they
tested the car it is "inconclusive" but could be an Alternator or Fuse problem.
We removed the negative battery cable after starting the car with a different battery and
the car ran fine... so I don't think its the Alternator.   Anybody have any suggestions or
ideas?   Thanks!

usually when the 1998/2002 drain out the battery the problem shall be the alternator but the "RUNNING THE ENGINE disconnecting the battery terminal " some times damage the resistor and the vehicle start to damage the voltage regulator that is located inside the alternator. big problem.
