I have a 1999 Lincoln Continental and the door ajar sign coming on

I replaced the sensor but  it still comes on and that ding ding sound  is driving me crazy

that is a ground trigger switch. start by checking the ground.

Ground trigger switch is is that a part and if so where is it located

have you tried making sure the door is closing properly? you may need to adjust the door latch itself.

it should be in the front of the door jamb, and what i mean by grround trigger is when it is pushed in it cuts the ground connection and when it is released it completes the ground.

If you got some WD-40 or lime off followed by some olive oil cooking spray at the door latch then it should fix the problem especially for older and dirtier vehicles. In rare cases it's the sensor but before you start taking your doors apart you may want to try spraying it. $1-3 fix for something a mechanic would charge $70+ for
