Just your basics, air filter, fuel filter, tune-up, proper air pressure in tires, clean oil & filter, driving habits, OR buy a smaller car.

195

I had a 99 Crown Vic and installed a Jet Chip ($300), put Magna- flow mufflers on and removed the baffles ($200) and added a K&N air filter. The change was dramatic, no longer was it grandpa's old Ford sedan. The Jet Chip remapped many registers in the ECU and upped the performance considerably.

I would also look at improving the suspension. Heavier springs, performance shocks and tires will make it corner and stop much better.
