Taking off a battery terminal connection while the engine is running is asking for a voltage spike and damage to the electric system. Have you tested the battery?

battery is less than 3 months old

Just cause it stayed running when you did such a horrible thing to your electronics doesn't mean the the system is operating properly, this has a computer controlled charging system, the computer regulates the current flow up down and even off when things are just right, so you may have a intermittent failure in the computer controls, I suggest you take it to someplace that has the proper knowledge on this type of charging system, most good independent shops will have the tools and knowledge on this vehicle to find and repair your problem.

First of all horrible things happen to people. Its a car. Thats the way i was taught to check to see if the alternator is good. If everyone on here is going to be a prick when answering questions you can all go fuck yourselves

You were taught wrong, that is for old generator systems, not the new electronic systems. I suggest you learn more about your own vehicle before attempting repairs, old school no longer applies today.

Wow, try to help some of these and look what happens. No appreciation. Some of these people should not be allowed to own any tools.

It's the lack of knowledge that proves dangerous.
