Overheating Lincoln ls v6

I had the same issue with my 2000 LS. Come to find out, the hydraulic fan had no automatic transmission fluid in the resouvoir. And probably had not for a long time. I filled it, the fan began to work and I haven't had an overheating issue since.

I've had two issues that caused overheating in our 2000 LS V6. First, the hydraulic fan wouldn't run on high speed, just low. That was fixed by replacing the fan actuator, which is very easy to replace, but stupidly expensive to purchase. Later, the car started overheating and the heater wouldn't blow warm air. This was fixed by replacing the cracked cooling system reservoir tank under the windshield. The cracked tank wouldn't let the system build pressure like it needs to. Again, easy to replace, and expensive to purchase.
