what is the incredible metalic grinding noise that i can actually feel on the floorboard when starting my ls. The second it starts, the noise stops and it runs perfect after that

im not sure if this is the starter going bad or the flexplate but it sounds
hellacious , although even though i think its the last time it will start, it still
starts and then run normal

I would look into those areas you mentioned. Also look under the car to see if anything is loose and contacting the body.
