oil change frequency

Asked by GuruT9MVY Jun 09, 2018 at 05:54 PM about the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2018 Sante Fe Sport shows almost a quart low on the dipstick after about
5000 miles between oil changes.  Is that normal, or should I be changing oil
sooner than the recommended 7500 miles between changes?

I would change oil every 5,000 miles. 7,500 is too long.

Check the oil every time you fill up. If you find it is not using oil you can check less frequently.

normal use with late models and current oil should go 10000 no problem

Undo the oil fill cap then re-check oil on the dipstick, should be full. Same thing happened to my 2018, service guy says a lot of oil stays under pressure behind the valves. when pressure is released by removing oil fill cap, oil level returns to normal.
