Won't start after running

I have a 98 Ford escort with a 4-cylinder the car
will start and run for a while but once I turn it off it
has to sit for 30 minutes to an hour before it will
start again what could be the problem

There are systems on cars that when defective are susceptible to heat and will just stop working. Could be bad coils. Or it could be leaking injectors flooding a hot engine, and in time the excess fuel dissipates and the cooled engine starts again.
