check engine light just came on, previous owner said that it only came on after it was serviced, what do you think could be the problem.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased this vehicle a few days ago and when I looked at it the check engine light was on, so the previous owner said that they had it serviced and since the service the light came on, they then took it back to the shop and the mechanic said that he changed the spark plugs and then the light went out.  I put about 500 kms on since and now the light is back on.  Any ideas.

they might not have reset the light. disconnect the battery to reset the codes and see if it comes back on.
