99 for windstar Cadillac converter

I have a big long trip coming up and my Cadillac
converter keeps glowing red trying to figure out
what the reason is but should I replace it and if I
have to replace it would it be easier just to cut it
out and go without it or is that even a possibility?

Replace it! Your car will run better and you should pass the next smog inspection without problems.

Where we live does it have admissions testing or anything so we don't have anything to pass with our cars.
