My Kia won't shift into the highest gear
won't shift  past 3rd gear unable to
accelerate past 50 miles per hour

If this is a manual transmission, I would have the hydraulic clutch bled out. May be air in the system. Check the fluid also.

If you take it to have the codes checked, it would say what is going on. It may be just a solenoid needing to be replaced, but a scanner capable of reading trany code would pick this up.
